In our final segment Dan Gates will give us an update from the recent CPW meetings in Ignacio, CO. One decision that was made was on the Daily Furbearer Bag Limits. The Commission voted 6–5 on Thursday, July 16, to restrict recreational hunters and trappers to taking a maximum of two furbearers per day for all 17 state furbearer species (such as bobcats, foxes, and beavers), ending previous unlimited daily take rules. Dan also gives an update on Initiative 302. Colorado Initiative 302 is a proposed constitutional amendment that would establish a fundamental right to hunt, fish, and harvest wildlife using traditional methods, designating it as the preferred means of wildlife management. Supporters recently submitted over 180,000 signatures to place the measure on the November 2026 ballot. Once the ballots are out this will be an Amendment number, and we will let everyone know as soon as possible.
