I was raised in Dallas, Texas and I am grateful that my Dad, Bear Whatley, introduced me to the heritage of hunting, fishing, and the outdoor life at an early age. At age 6 with a 30-30, I killed my first buck with my Dad by my side. I am thankful he taught me to love and respect the outdoors, safety in the woods and at the range, and to always share your passion for the great outdoors with others. Whether it was jackrabbit hunting, squirrel hunting, waterfowl, pheasant, stalking that big Colorado Elk, or tracking a Kudu on a South Africa Safari hunt, I would not be the avid outdoorsman I am today without my Dad taking the time to teach me how to be a responsible outdoorsman.
When hunting season kicked off in Colorado in the fall of 2012, I combined my passion for the outdoors with my expertise in broadcast media and founded Sportsman Of Colorado and created the Sportsman of Colorado Radio Show.
