I was set up 1-hour before sunrise on a clear hill/knob with visibility of about 60 yards on the East and West and mostly clear cut for a couple hundred yards on the North and South. Set out 3 hen decoys and started yelping at first light, set up in a 6 foot cedar tree, facing north. After many calls and answers, I saw the red and blue of his head as he came fanning up the hill directly from the north and right at the hen decoy, directly in front of me. I gave a loud put and dropped him at about 15 yards when he telescoped to see what the problem was. Heavy bird with an 8 inch beard and approximately ¾ of an inch spurs.
